Russian-Indian Session to Be Held with PORА Support at Arctic-Regions Forum

The Project Office for Arctic Development (PORA) will act as a partner in the expert-analytical session «Arkhangelsk Region in the New Geo-Economy of Eurasia: Opportunities for Expanding Russian-Indian Cooperation,» which will take place on August 14 as part of the IV Forum «Arctic – Regions» in Arkhangelsk.
The event will be one of the forum’s key international platforms dedicated to the development of Russian-Indian cooperation in the Arctic. Participants will discuss how the Arkhangelsk Region can become an important link in new transport, industrial, and scientific-technological ties between the two countries, as well as the prospects for integrating the Northern Sea Route and the International Transport Corridor «North–South.» In addition to logistics, the focus will also be on joint projects in industry, shipbuilding, natural resource development, climate technologies, science, and investment. One of the practical objectives of the session will be to prepare proposals for the draft roadmap of Russian-Indian cooperation with the participation of the Arkhangelsk Region.
The session will be held in the format of a Business, Technology and Academic Dialogue and will bring together representatives of government authorities, business, the scientific community, and expert organizations from Russia and India.
Welcoming remarks will be delivered by Igor Muraev, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Arkhangelsk Region, and the head of the Indian delegation, S. Venkatesapathy, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways of India.
The expert discussion will feature Sergey Chemko, Head of Projects at the Department for the Development of the Northern Sea Route and the Arctic of Rosatom State Corporation; Mikhail Afonyutin, Director of the Department of Sales and Contracting for Civil Shipbuilding of the United Shipbuilding Corporation; Admiral Pradeep Chauhan, Director General of the National Maritime Foundation of India; Sulagna Chattopadhyay, President of the SaGAA LIGHTS Centre for Scientific Research and Geopolitics in the Arctic and Antarctic; as well as Bipandeep Sharma, Research Fellow at the Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses.
